The Mind-Body Disconnection: Reconnecting the Mind and Body

Having been on this journey for several decades, beginning with my own experience with chronic pain, I’ve considered the mind-body connection from many angles. Usually, the mind-body connection is thought of as the body listening to what the mind offers as solutions. After all, the body doesn’t seem to offer solutions, does it? However, in the world of mind-body health, our bodies may experience chronic pain for various reasons, but ultimately, the mind must find the solutions for the body. Even if we believe that low back pain is caused by stress or anger, the solution stems from an intellectual conclusion. I am not disregarding that, but the mind still directs the body on what to do.

What Your Body Can Do

As you read through this blog, its what saved me from a lifetime of chronic pain.  When I discovered this, I needed to share—the benefits of the Miracle Ball Method. I still reserve the right to return to my previous life at some point. However, after decades of listening to people struggle with common aches and pain, many of which are still approached with the same conclusions—we are taught to tell our body what to do.

To me, this is the mind-body disconnection. The mind feels obligated to help a body that is limp, sometimes overworked, and stressed, return to health. But what if I told you that this is exactly where the disconnect lies? Your body knows where health is and how to get there. But while we sit with our platitudes on what to do for this weak, confused, and difficult body, we miss the connection right in front of us. I’ve been there; I know. I listened to all the directions about what to do for my body and the problems it was presenting. And when I stumbled on the opposite approach, I was frustrated. How could such simple instructions result in such monumental changes?

My pain was overwhelming, taking over my entire physical and emotional self, so a simple solution seemed ridiculous. After a period of skepticism, I began to understand why it works.

Your Body Is Giving You Feedback Every Moment of the Day

The Miracle Ball Method teaches a language of feedback from the body. When you begin to sense this feedback, you realize your body already knows the positions that relieve stress on the lower back. It moves with strength, even though we may be convinced we are weak. It breathes easily when we stop holding our breath. In the past, we may have been giving our bodies directions from the intellect, without considering the personal experiences of our own body. We have been gravely misguided, and it’s especially sad for those who lose hope. They spend a lifetime believing in information—usually from others—that’s reinforced by their own best efforts to do right by themselves, but they remain trapped.

What You Can Do

While teaching for many years, I’ve learned that my biggest job is to help people believe again. That’s why, when my publisher proposed the name “Miracle Ball Method” for my first book, I went with it. We can dive as deep and intellectually when it comes to healing, but the healer within us is often simple. But you must learn the language. We’ve become desensitized to how responsive our bodies are and how they communicate, because we don’t fully believe in the miracle of how they work.

I don’t heal people; I share the language that helped thousands of others over the years—believe in their own healing. Consistency is key. There will always be outside forces that challenge you, making you say, “Yes, I believe in all this, but…” There is no “but.” Explore the Miracle Ball Method with an open mind and body. You may not understand it at first because your body might not provide feedback immediately. But it will. It won’t come in the form of written words or an email; it will manifest as real sensory, physical responses. You will develop your own language to understand your body.

You see, there is no one like you. Once you immerse yourself in this simple process, you can apply it to any physical endeavor you choose. You are in partnership with your body every moment of your life; it’s not a dictatorship.
