Everyday Movements Can Heal or Hurt Your Body

Using the balls feels amazing, but an invaluable byproduct of The Miracle Ball Method is tapping into your body’s ability to move freely without stiffness, or the everyday aches and pains many of us experience. Everyday movements done differently, using the benefits you get while on the ball, is a combination that will benefit you throughout your life.

Exercising Without Exercise

I’m always exploring better language to help people bridge the mental gap between practicing the method and applying it to everyday life. I call it a mental gap because your body will naturally integrate the benefits of the Method into your daily movements. While lying on the balls is incredible, using your body’s feedback can be applied to how you move throughout your day as well.

We on the other hand are creatures of habit. While our bodies will transition from the great feeling on the balls and improve the way you do everyday movements, our habits, meaning the way we have trained ourselves to move, prevent those adaptations. This happens unknowingly. Just like the Method teaches, by understanding this power your body has to adapt or change, you will sense options for how you do everyday movements. This will not only relieve the aches and pains of rotator cuff issues, low back aches, stiffness, poor posture and just about everything and, you might actually enjoy moving throughout your day knowing it is benefiting you.

In a recent webinar, we explored what I term “exercising without exercise.” For example, tasks like putting on a coat or lifting something onto a shelf can be challenging when raising your arms is difficult. We focused mostly on everyday shoulder movements. But as those familiar with the method know, no part of the body operates in isolation. In our next webinar we will be focused on many movements requiring you to bend forward and stand on two legs. How can you use the Miracle Ball Method to improve feeling to key areas so you can do these everyday movements with ease?

You Can’t Move What You Don’t Feel

During the webinar, I encouraged participants to become more aware of how they move. Notice the sensations you experience when reaching for a top shelf or putting on a coat. That sensation is your body providing feedback. First, you feel; then your body begins to understand. Many of us skip this step, immediately thinking, “It hurts, I can’t do that, how do I fix it?” However, you can’t effectively address the issue until you notice how you’re moving. It only takes a moment! This principle applies to everything in life, yet we often overlook it when it comes to our bodies. You do not have to stop your day and focus on putting your coat on. Think about it, these movements happen all the time. What an opportunity every time you do reach your arm through a sleeve or reach for something on a top shelf, you keep noticing improvement rather than discouragement. Don’t blame your body. We all know you can’t keep repeating actions in life the same way and expect anything to change.

First You Feel, Then What? Do It Differently!

Once you become more aware of how you move throughout your day, use that feedback to adjust your movements. This again, takes a moment. Your body will probably want to change because it has been knocking at your door. Your body can only speak through pleasure and pain. If it hurts when you move, let your WHOLE body help you.

The Miracle Ball Method helps you understand that your body’s feedback provides the answers, not just a general sense of well-being. For instance, when reaching your arm, you might notice other parts of your body that can assist, reducing strain on your shoulder.

In the webinar, the goal was for participants to grasp how to incorporate the method into their daily lives. This can be a matter of milliseconds, but getting specific about your movements can yield significant long-term benefits. Your brain’s remarkable ability to process new information will facilitate this change.

Feeding Your Body New Information

It doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler and more specific the adjustments, the more your body will adapt. During the webinar, participants practiced movements involving reaching their arms and began to identify obstacles and made adjustments easily!

We also used the elbow-on-the-ball placement, which allows for a deeper understanding of your body through the nervous system. The changes people experienced were remarkable, though they might not have fully acknowledged them, it will get deeper over time. You will always have room to improve.
